Frame-type scaffolds are widely used in the construction of reinforced concrete buildings. Based on various types of structures, different dimensions of frame-type scaffolds are considered in their construction. This study investigates a specific dimension of frame-type scaffold commonly used in technology plants. The results of this study show that it is not necessary to consider the failure of screw threads of the base extension rod when the base extension is within the scope commonly adopted in construction sites. The cross bars of the square-type and rectangle-type steel scaffolds are able to enhance the load-carrying capacities of the combined setups of frame-type steel scaffolds. Therefore, combined setups of frame-type steel scaffolds are adopted, it is advisable to refrain from using only the door-type steel scaffolds in the structure. The ability of jack bases to enhance the load-carrying capacities of the frame-type steel scaffolds is not significant because the base extension rod is a hollow tube that can only be welded peripherally, without internal welding. This hollow tube is different from the solid tube of the traditional jack base. Under the condition of eccentric load at one-third of both x-axis and y-axis, the load-carrying capacity of the frame-type steel scaffolds reduces to about 60% of that when no eccentric load is involved. In construction sites, when eccentric loads on the combined setup of frame-type steel scaffolds are within the scope of one-third of both x-axis and y-axis, the result may serve as a reference for strength design of the frame-type steel scaffolds with eccentric loads. When the scaffolds are applied with lateral force, the critical load of the frame-type steel scaffolds decreases with the increase of the lateral force.
