Abstract:

The aim of this study is to evaluate the punching shear behavior of flat plates reinforced with steel plates. The shear reinforcement consists of steel plates with openings. The performance of the punching shear was investigated by performing tests on six specimens. The variable includes materials of shear reinforcement and spacing of shear reinforcement. The crack-failure modes and load-displacement curve were analyzed and compared. The shear strength increases as the spacing of shear reinforcement in the critical section area decreases. Test results revealed that the steel plates as shear reinforcement effectively contributes to the increases in shear strength of the flat plate.
