Abstract:

In this paper, we made a research on the situation of ecological construction in Chinese eco-cities by the case study of Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city (SSTEC). It is import to analyze how the applications of green technology and innovation have affected residents’ lifestyle and whether the residents have lived in a way more environmental- friendly than before. Several aspects of people’s lifestyle in SSTEC are analyzed in the paper. Each aspect is discussed in the view of government, visitors and the residents themselves respectively. To investigate the real living conditions of residents, this paper provides empirical data on the residents of SSTEC. The results reveal that while people’s environmental awareness has improved remarkably and the application of new technology and indicators has come into play, some habits and demands of the residents are contrary to the goal of eco-friendly lifestyle. The conclusion is significantly valuable for the decision makers, planners of new eco-cities as well as those who cares about the future of sustainable human settlements.
