Abstract:
This paper will discuss Contemporary-Nusantara Architecture from the standpoint of science in built environment. The discussion of the Contemporary-Nusantara Architecture aspect is divided into four parts: introduction of Contemporary-Nusantara Architecture, methods of Contemporary-Nusantara Architecture based on research and design, results and discussion about the noble value of nusantara architecture and the last part, conclusion about the usability in science of nusantara. The meaning of Contemporary-Nusantara Architecture begins with the origin of culture, redefinition and re-interpretation of nusantara architecture in a contemporary form. The Contemporary-Nusantara Architecture can use multiple viewpoints and architectural languages. Based on the standpoint of building science, the research and design aspects can be coupled together in creating a sustainable built environment. Building science research is generally evaluating and developing local architectural principles either with physical experiments or computer simulations. Meanwhile, the design applications based on building science in the form of development in sustainable architecture aspects, ecology, climate response, energy saving to smart buildings followed by evaluation and design prediction through scientific studies. The discussion of Contemporary-Nusantara Architecture based on sciencetific view of built environment can be divided into sustainable wisdom, harmonious humanity, climate responsiveness, energy and cultural awareness, and modest intelligence.
