Abstract:
Sand is one of the most important ingredient in producing or in preparation of a cement mortar or cement concrete. The availability of natural sand is getting depleted and it also is becoming costly. This, consequently necessitates a paradigm shift in producing concrete. Practices, calling for the development of locally available quarry stone (manufacturing sand) alternative to natural sand. Hence, in the present paper an attempt has been made to investigate the mechanical properties of Slurry Infiltrated Fibrous Concrete (SIFCON) made with manufactured sand obtained from quarry stone. Cubes, Cylinders and Prisms are cast and tested for Compressive Strength, Split Tensile Strength and Modulus of Rupture after a period of 7, 28 and 56 days. SIFCON made with manufactured stone shown increased strengths as the fibre volume increases.
