Abstract:

This paper considers modern parks with historical background as a kind of living landscape heritage. Taking Tianjin’s Central Park as a case, the paper reviews its development and changes, analyzes design intentions of various renovations, interprets its historical, artistic, social and spiritual values. Moreover, the paper attempts to uncover diverse perceptions of these multiple values by park-goers through intensive data analyzes of online reviews, behavior annotations and questionnaires. The research explores the relationship between heritage perceptions and daily needs, and intends to provide some reference for preservation and regeneration of landscape heritage.
