Abstract:
One of many causes of global warming that has swept the world is the high level of CO2 emissions. Construction world is a field that produces a large amount of CO2 emissions, for example: the use of cement in construction. Therefore, cement-based materials should be reduced. Foam-brick is a new material that reduce the use of cement. The use of cement is replaced by sugar cane waste released from the sugar mills. In addition, the new material is also using Styrofoam waste as a coarse aggregate. In laboratory tests, it is found out that foam-brick not only has a good compressive strength, but it also has a noise level reduction at about 45 dB. This value is higher than the value of red-brick Sound Transmission Loss (STL).
