Abstract:

This research examines the behavioural consequences of CPMS and also examines the moderating role of individual differences particularly personality traits of locus of control in the relationship between CPMS and role ambiguity. Based on role theory and social learning theory, research hypothesises that internals perceive more comprehensive PMS to be more useful to reduce their role ambiguity than do externals. The data were collected from 120 business unit managers of manufacturing firms listed in the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) 2011 Directory. The findings indicate only internals locus of control personality moderates the relationship between PMS and role ambiguity.
