Abstract: As information overload is a serious problem in the current information era, it is necessary to locate precise information with the granularity at the sentence level. Identification of precise information a the sentence level finds its application in text summarization, question answering etc. This paper propses a method which correctly identifies the sentences that describe an event type to extrat its participants. It uses a feature-based supervised machine learning approach to identify the sentences as event describing sentences of a particular event type. Our approach was tested using ACE dataset and found to be yielding good result.
