Abstract: A study was conducted to isolate the different kinds of bacteria present in the saline soil of Dubai. A total of 22 bacterial strains associated with the root nodules of the leguminous plants were isolated from the desert soils. The physiological and biochemical studies were performed for these isolates. They were extremely versatile with respect to the utilization of carbon and nitrogen sources. These isolates also possessed the ability to tolerate various heavy metals.
