Abstract: There has been significant growth in developments towards providing end-to-end logistics provision through the emergence of intermediaries. Therefore, it is imperative to better understand enablers and inhibitors of intermediary partnership in logistics. Thus, the aim of this study is to identify enablers and inhibitors of these partnerships through alignment and benchmarking strategies and assess the ability of 4PLs to meet requirements of ever-increasing customer demand. The research is based on a 4PL organization involved in the pharma supply chain distribution within Europe, including its European carriers. The findings reveal support of certain best practices critical for intermediary partnership success, the usefulness of benchmarking and understanding different perspectives, and the crucial role of innovation and IT in facilitating this process that helped develop the conceptual framework presented throughout the research
