Abstract: This paper looks into the risks faced by two pharmaceutical case study companies in research collaboration. Strategies employed by these companies in a research collaboration context provide a fresh outlook on intellectual property issues faced while collaborating with a partner. The qualitative study conducted led to a design of a stepped approach possibility for future research collaboration initiatives.
