Abstract: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether mentoring experience predicts leadership development. A sample of 83 university student mentors was collected from a formal mentoring program cooperated by a university and a local government in Seoul, Korea. Mentors taught and supported middle and high school students in a local community for four months. Standard multiple regression analysis was used for data analysis. The result indicated that among mentoring functions, psychosocial mentoring function and role model function significantly predicted leadership life skills. Based on the results, implications were discussed.
