Abstract:
In this study, porous carbon particles were synthesized by spray pyrolysis and used to the fabrication of carbon electrode with high capacitance for capacitive deionization (CDI) application. The specific surface area of carbon particles were controlled by changing the sodium bicarbonate from 347 to 825 m2/g. The FT-IR analysis showed that the prepared carbon particles have more functional groups than commercial activated carbon particles (ACPs). As a result, the zeta potential of the porous carbon particles synthesized by spray pyrolysis was much larger than that of ACPs. It was confirmed that the porous carbon particles synthesized by spray pyrolysis had an improved capacitance about 45{6e6090cdd558c53a8bc18225ef4499fead9160abd3419ad4f137e902b483c465} compared with the ACPs electrode.
