Abstract:
Present syudy deals with use of rice husk ash (RHA), an agroindustry waste, as adsorbent for aqueous phase removal of 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid (2,4-D). RHA was characterized with BET, XRF, CHNS techniques. Batch adsorption study was performed by varying adsorbent dosage and initial concentration. Equilibrium adsorption data were analysed using two to five parameter linear and nonlinear isotherm models. Adsorption model with higher number of parameters found to be more suitable for observed system. Langmuir adsorption capacity was 1.4 mg/g where as Toth isotherm showed maximum adsorption capacity (2.3 mg/g). Heat of adsorption value obtained from Temkin isotherm revealed exothermic nature of 2,4-D removal.
