Abstract:
This paper investigates the linear stability of a thin axisymmetric viscoelastic fluid flowing on a rotating circular disk under an applied uniform magnetic field. Long-wave perturbation analysis is proposed to derive an evolutionary equation of the Walter’s liquid B type governing propagation of surface waves. Linear stability is studied using the normal mode. The study reveals that the Hartmann number indeed plays a significant role in stabilizing the film flow when viscoelastic parameter destabilizes the one in a thin viscoelastic fluid during spin coating.
