Abstract:
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has grown in a fast pace and attained its importance as a part and parcel of life. The aim of computing utility is to help the mankind with basic needs and this can be fulfilled by many computing paradigms that have recently emerged. Cloud computing is one of the latest paradigms in computing that has shown a promising intent to be an integral part of computing community.
This paper is divided into two parts. The first part deals with understanding cloud computing in detail. It differentiates cloud computing from other parts of computing like grid and cluster computing. The second part deals with the analysis and performance of cloud computing using stochastic models (Kaiqi and Harry, 2009). It also takes up the general modeling of Web Servers (Kleinrock, 1976) for setting a base for further research in the field of using stochastic process in cloud computing.
