Abstract:
Human crowd is a fascinating social phenomenon in nature. How to generate realistic human behaviors is a challenging and interesting problem in many applications such as computer games, military simulations, and crowd animation systems. Humans may demonstrate different behaviors in different situations. Our interest is in developing realistic behavior models for medium-sized crowd simulations. A generic behavior modeling framework has been proposed. The framework is generic in the sense that it reflects the major observations that we have made on human behavior in daily-life situations. In particular, it emphasizes the role of a human’s experience and social relations in determining his/her behavior. Case studies have been conducted to illustrate how this modeling framework can be used in various crowd simulations.
