Abstract:
Since the late nineties, the convergence of computing and creative art has led to greater acceptance of digital visual art which largely supports the creation of interactive, non-linear and mutable artistic media that can be distilled as text, images, video and sound. In this paper we present a digital art development platform called Chameleon Art. Chameleon Art is a plugin-based platform used for creating interactive artwork, based on visual programming, which gives its users the power of programming, yet the ease of click-and-drag. We implemented the platform and performed user group acceptance surveys to qualitatively determine its capabilities and assess its usability in providing a computing environment that suitable for creating interactive digital art.
