Abstract:

The recreation of virtual cultural heritage sites and urban environment simulations has become more common nowadays. However, an empty environment in the simulations will diminish the immersive
experience that the simulations suppose to present. That’s why the simulations of massive crowd plays an important role in this field. In recent years, the growth of the research in this area has escalated and there has been many techniques developed in the crowd simulations area, mainly in entertainment and games industry both for real-time and non-real time rendering. In this paper, we will present the histories of crowd simulation in computer graphics, and give an overview on developing crowd simulations. Furthermore, we also explain some issues and techniques that have been applied in crowd rendering.
