Abstract:

Much research has been done on the usage of embodied presentation agents (EPA) in the field of multimedia education. Previous studies have revealed that EPA has a significant impact in enhancing the users’ learning experience by increasing both the users’ comprehension level and attention to the details of the presentations’ content. However, little work has been done to investigate the effects of different EPA visual formats, namely the 2D and 3D visual styles. This paper presents the incorporation of EPA in an in-flight safety briefing, to report the effectiveness of EPA in delivering safety instructions to passengers. This paper also compares the effects of both 2D and 3D EPA visual styles, with the intention of suggesting the more effective EPA visual format for use of delivering safety instructions.
