Abstract:
Cloud Computing is basically a paradigm shift from the traditional way of desktop computing to online computing. This technology is suitable for all type of organizations but especially for organizations that operate under budgetary constraints. Academic institutions are also budget constrained organizations. This is why Cloud Computing is considered an appropriate solution for them, to meet their computing needs. A generalized framework for implementing Cloud Computing has been proposed for higher education institutions in Pakistan. Finally, the implications of this model and framework are discussed with directions for further research.
