Abstract:
Cloud computing is now a reality as Salesforce, and many other will follow suit, moved its applications into the Cloud [1]. The resource and time sharing concept of Cloud, like in utility, is extremely scalable as well as fallible. It is scalable because resource can be created to meet demand for the applications during peak periods. It is fallible because it is dependent on network connectivity via the Internet service. Most literature on Cloud computing is focused on the implementation and benefits aspects of it. This paper is focused on the impact Cloud computing has on system analysis and design. We found no differences in the analysis phase of creating a Cloud based solution but there are potential challenges in the design phase specifically, the database schema, use of queues, access control, workflow, service bus and query efficiency. This paper provides system designers some design considerations to be considered when preparing or designing a Cloud based solution.
