Abstract:  Linear stability analysis is performed to study the effects of feedback control and cubic temperature profiles on the onset of thermocapillary convection in a rotating fluid layer. The eigenvalue obtained for rigid-free boundary combinations with adiabatic temperature conditions by using the single-term Galerkin technique. The influence of various parameters on the onset of stationary convection has been analyzed. Three different basic temperature profiles are considered and their comparative influence on onset is discussed. The Coriolis force and feedback control are suitable for material processing in microgravity environment for they suppress and delay the onset of Marangoni convection.
