Abstract:
This paper presents an extensive perspective on Software as a Service, and how it can be of use in the Shipping sector. It looks at the cloud computing and its derivatives, explains them and then goes on to explain how they can benefit the shipping sector. The paper is a conclusive outcome of the live project which one of the authors guided to a group of students at MIT, Pune as their final year project on Building a Web Based Application on the Force.com Platform, which is considered here as a case study.
