Abstract:
Due to their stochastic nature, some renewable energy sources, like solar energy and wind, are inappropriate to solely cover most types of electricity needs. Therefore, this study plays a vital role in sustaining that energy demands. This paper describes the design of wind-solar renewable energy sources and the implementation of IEEE 802.15.4 standard for wireless data acquisition and logging system. It produced electricity from combined 100W wind turbine generator and 100W PV panel for small scale load but can be expanded to supply greater load. A real time monitoring system for the parameters of the solar and the wind energy sources such as the currents, the voltages, the powers, the battery condition, the direction of wind, the speed of the wind and the ambient temperature that can be illustrated on an LCD and displayed simultaneously in a remote PC or Laptop using 2.405 GHz Zigbee transceiver, microcontroller unit, and RS232 for data interfacing. Thereafter, the system has different signal alarms which include the buzzer’s and LED’s while displaying into LCD module and in a remote PC or Laptop when low battery, overload, clip reverse, and motor trouble encountered or wind speed too high. The results were evaluated using standard deviation and t-test was obtained no significant difference between conventional method and proposed study. In addition, ZigBee transceiver for wireless data acquisition and logging system for electrical parameters, meteorological parameters and alarms of hybrid system was successfully implemented and obtained a 100{6e6090cdd558c53a8bc18225ef4499fead9160abd3419ad4f137e902b483c465} sending success. It was observed that these hybrid renewable sources with wireless data acquisition and logging system works successfully and gives good performance.
