Abstract:In e-learning domain one of the biggest challenges is the design of suitable pedagogical e-contents. The research literature represents a number of Adaptive Educational Systems (AESs) developed using e-contents. However, most of the developed systems utilize recycled learning material to teach courses. Only few studies have been conducted using custom designed e-contents such as AELTT [9] & iWeaver [8]. The previous research lacks in designing learning contents using any sound pedagogy. Moreover, the multimedia courseware makes learning interesting using blend of different media but lacks in developing higher order thinking skills among students. This study attempts to follow Bloom’s learning taxonomy [17] where e-contents have been designed to teach concepts so as to support learners at different knowledge levels for their cognitive development. The Bloom’s learning model consists of six levels organized in a hierarchy. Each higher level of the hierarchy depends on the one below it. Each level is associated with different cognitive skills set from simple to complex and which fosters thinking skills from lower to higher order. For this project domain of English grammar has been selected. The pedagogical contents are being designed and experimented using a small sample in a local school. The results obtained in terms of learning outcome and learner satisfaction are encouraging.
