Abstract: This paper argues that children and students receive more and more light stimulation especially during evening times because of IT affecting their work and rest life. I will review literature related to the effects of visible light not only on sleep cycles, but also on heart activities and therefore other physiological functions which could have undesirable implications especially among developing children (preschoolers through adolescents). Use of IT in education therefore may not necessarily improve the quality of student learning life when educational ergonomics is not considered. A field receiving less and less attention since early 2000s, educational ergonomics deserves a revival through engaging both parents and teachers in recognizing the close ties between light and public health to begin with.
