Abstract: The assumption that penetration of impregnating agent from the projectile into the cartridge case caused munitions failures has been confirmed by heating the affected projectiles at 400°C for 2 hours, causing the unreacted impregnation material either to fully polymerize or to carbonize. The heat treated projectiles assembled into cartridges no longer caused failures, even after prolonged storage and fulfilled all technical requirements.
