Abstract: Forensic dentistry plays a major role in identification in manmade and natural disasters events that result in multiple fatalities that may not be identifiable through conventional methods. The aim of this study is to measure the accuracy of three age estimation methods and derive the best among the three methods used for age estimation. The study was carried out on patients who reported to the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.3 methods of age estimation were employed on all the patients namely Kvaals method, Dentinal Translucency method, Microscopic method. Un-paired t-test was used to compare between the different methods. Microscopic tooth annulations method (p=0.687) was adjudged the most accurate method of age estimation when compared to dentinal translucency method (p=0.577) and Kvaals method (p=0.009). In conjunction of the results obtained in the study it is concluded that Tooth cementum annulations method is the most reliable of all the three methods to estimate age.
