Abstract: Sag pond is a body of water near fault system where water flows are blocked by the fault. Movement of a fault may lead to the formation of sediment layers on the sag pond. One of sediments which can be formed is organic soil layer. The variation of electric and magnetic properties in the soil is associated with the changes in electromagnetic velocity. This study analyzes the electric and magnetic properties of soil samples taken from sag pond near Lembang fault, at Karyawangi village, West Java, Indonesia. The 4 cm diameter samples were obtained using hand auger at depths from the surface down to 364 cm. Electric conductivity, relative dielectric permittivity and magnetic susceptibility of each sample were measured using conductivity-meter 5TE, sensor EC-5 and magnetometer MS2B, respectively. The analysis was conducted by correlating the electric and magnetic parameters as to obtain the factors linking them. There is strong correlation between the electric conductivity and relative dielectric permittivity indicated by r correlation of 0.1960, also between electric conductivity and magnetic susceptibility whose r correlation is -0.6088 whereas, the correlation between the relative dielectric permittivity and magnetic susceptibility is significantly weak where the r correlation is 0.0245.
