Abstract: This study aims to investigate the relationships between mechanical and physical properties of arkoses with their P-and S-wave velocities. The uniaxial compressive strength (UCS), point load strength index (IS(50)), static and dynamic elasticity modulus (Es and Ed) Schmidt rebound number (SH), Poisson’s ratio (σ), porosity (n), bulk mass density by weight (ρ), water content (ω) of arkoses were determined and correlated with P-and S-wave velocities. The arkoses specimens cored from the samples collected from Kurtköy and Sopalı regions NW, Turkey subjected laboratory experiments in order to determine physical and mechanical properties. Later, the simple regression analysis was performed to evaluate the relationships between these properties and P-and S- wave velocities, yielding high correlation coefficients.
