Abstract: Various scaling laws for peak ground accelerations are analyzed and divided into three categories: theoretical, semiempirical and empirical. The accuracy of each type of these laws is analyzed. It is shown that the empirical relations have the least errors. Four zones around earthquake source are allocated. Every zone is characterized by different law of amplitude attenuation and must be studied separately. A simple method to construct pure empirical scaling laws is proposed. Uniform attenuation law of peak ground acceleration is developed.
