Abstract: The compressional P-wave velocities, uniaxial compressive strength (UCS), dry unit weight (ρ), effective porosity (Ø) and anisotropy of limestone rock specimens have been determined under unconfined pressure. The relationship between the P-wave velocity, bulk density, effective porosity and uniaxial compressive strength are displayed. The velocity anisotropy is demonstrated. The results indicated that the foliation planes have a significant effect on the wave velocity, where the P-wave velocity taken parallel to the foliation plane displays higher values than that obtained in the vertical direction. A high anisotropy of 8,2{6e6090cdd558c53a8bc18225ef4499fead9160abd3419ad4f137e902b483c465} is deduced for propagation along the two directions.
