Abstract:

This paper presents the lessons learned from a short-term implementation of service delivery improvement reforms in a community health center in a highly-urbanized city in the Philippines. Community health centers, especially in low-resource settings with weak health systems, play a critical role in advancing the right to health of citizens. The experience documented in this paper highlight that the emphasis in the past on the technical aspects of service delivery need to be balanced today with a focus on enhancing the patient experience if we are to truly achieve the goal of health for all.
