Abstract: Low back pain (LBP) is expected to increase with age due to various factors. There is insufficient study reported on LBP among elderly who are living in the institutionalized center as compared to community dwelling. This study aimed to determine 1. the prevalence of LBP among elderly in institutionalized center; 2. the muscle physiological factors including control, strength and flexibility as predictors for LBP; 3.The functional status of the participants; among thepopulation. The results showed the prevalence of 62.6{6e6090cdd558c53a8bc18225ef4499fead9160abd3419ad4f137e902b483c465} residentssustained LBP in institutions. Overall the regression wassignificant, F(10,262) = 2.35, p< .05, R2= .08 with the core musclecontrol demonstrated as a strong predictor but not for strengthand flexibility. The functional status showed significant differentbetween the LBP and non LBP.
