Abstract: Suicide has become a public health issue among adolescent group. Indonesia and the Philippines despite the fact that the majority of people are predominantly Catholic and Moslem, both of these groups see suicide as taboo.Objective: The goal of this study was to understand the prevalence of suicide behavior among junior high school students in Indonesia and Philippines and the social factors influencing it.Methodology: This is a comparative study using the Global School-based Student Health Survey (GSHS) 2007. The study was conducted in Indonesia and Philippines where 5,369 junior high school students were selected. Sixteen questions were selected from the GSHS. 2 questions related to suicide behavior served as dependent variable, and the other 14 questions were classified into 3 groups as independent variable, namely socio-demographic, socio-environmental and psycho-social factors to fit models for binary logistic regression analysis.Results and Conclusion: Filipino students are more likely to have suicide ideation than Indonesian students (AOR=5.046; 95{6e6090cdd558c53a8bc18225ef4499fead9160abd3419ad4f137e902b483c465}CI=3.388-7.516). More than half of the Indonesian students (53.5{6e6090cdd558c53a8bc18225ef4499fead9160abd3419ad4f137e902b483c465}) and more than one third of Pilipino students (40.6{6e6090cdd558c53a8bc18225ef4499fead9160abd3419ad4f137e902b483c465}) who have suicidal ideation are more likely to express their intentions by making a suicide plan. Female students are more likely to have suicide behavior than male students (AOR=1.903; 95{6e6090cdd558c53a8bc18225ef4499fead9160abd3419ad4f137e902b483c465}CI=1.523-2.545) and bullied students are more likely to have suicidal thoughts (AOR=1.870; 95{6e6090cdd558c53a8bc18225ef4499fead9160abd3419ad4f137e902b483c465}CI=1.417-2.467).
