Abstract:
Green IT, in the context of going green organisations, is having two elements: innovations to minimize environmental impact by maximizing energy efficient use of IT resources, and practices to create sustainable business environment by maximizing IT role in integration of business model with environmental and social responsibility. Adoptions of Green IT among going green organizations require sound strategies in order to meet the Green IT objectives while support the three crucial elements of organization sustainability – environmental, economic and social. The purpose of this study is to examine Green IT strategies that can be used by going green organisations. This includes theoretical strategies purposed by researchers, currently available approaches and solutions provided by technology companies and IT consulting firms. The study will also suggest a Green IT framework that covers aspects that we think need to be considered when an organisation implements Green IT.
