Abstract:

This study includes 2 studies concerning issues about Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB), guanxi, and faction, and intends to clarify the different influences of guanxi and faction on OCB. Study 1 suggests that guanxi, representing the bright side of Chinese traditional values, positively affects OCB. Study 2 suggests that factions, representing the dark side of Chinese traditional values, negatively affect employee OCB in Chinese organizations.
