Abstract:
As entrepreneurial companies grow, talent acquisition may be the most important source of success or failure. Job descriptions are the fundamental building blocks for such basic talent management processes as recruitment, succession planning, coaching, training, and compensation. But job descriptions have multiple audiences.
This sets up an inner contradiction. The demands of an internal talent management system push for valid information. The demands of those entrusted with critical sales, capital raising, and development push for accenting the positive/eliminating the negative in these documents. Given the lack of resources of entrepreneurial companies and the need to make quick decisions, we suggest a technique that can be employed to manage the inner contradictions of job descriptions.
