Abstract:

Charge recombination at the TiO2/electrolyte interface in dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC)s is prevented by using Nb2O5 and NbCl4 as efficient blocking layers. The blocking layers are prepared by the spin coating method and the soaking method. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy indicates that the blocking layer can decrease the series resistance to some extent by construction the potential barrier. The improvements of Jsc and efficiency for the DSCs suggest that the thin NBCl4 film using the spin coating method is an effective blocking layer at TiO2 and electrolyte interface.
