Abstract: Telepractice is receiving global attention as a method that enables medical personnel to provide effective medical service to patients, while overcoming barriers of time and space. However, telepractice is not presently in common use in South Korea. In South Korea, various exogenous variables are hypothesized to affect user acceptance and intention to use in the telepractice acceptance process. The present study used a telepractice acceptance model to structurally test the following exogenous variables’ effects on this process: innovativeness, security, and facilitating conditions. Testing aimed to strengthen explanations of telepractice’s expansion and acceptance in South Korea. In the present study, a nationwide survey was administered to 215 speech language pathologists (SLPs), of whom 186 (86.52{6e6090cdd558c53a8bc18225ef4499fead9160abd3419ad4f137e902b483c465}) were female and 29 (13.48{6e6090cdd558c53a8bc18225ef4499fead9160abd3419ad4f137e902b483c465}) were male, and whose mean age was 28.6 years. Path analysis, in the form of structural equation model (SEM), was used to test proposed hypotheses. Path analysis indicated that facilitating conditions, information security, and innovativeness affect participants’ intention to use telepractice, and that this effect is mediated by ease of use and usefulness, which are factors in the technology acceptance model (TAM). Results also indicated that usefulness fully mediated ease of use’s effect on intention to use. The obtained results indicate that innovativeness, security, and facilitating conditions importantly affect telepractice use in South Korea. Further, the present study is significant as it provides data that may facilitate future implementation of telepractice through empirical analysis that establishes a technology acceptance model in health care.
