Abstract: As the average production cost reaches $100 million for a movie and the theater attendance stagnant in the domestic market, Hollywood is eying foreign audiences more than ever. Coincidently, the emergence of increased affluence, disposable income, interest in American films, and viable exhibition options in the form of modern theatrical settings in many part of the world have expanded the marketplace for the American movies. The American movie industry is able to take advantage of this situation as the industry capitalizes on the public good nature of the movies to be more competitive and efficient.
