Abstract: In this digital era, where information is available in abundance and can be accessed with ease, academicians need to be careful when they use information for research purposes to avoid plagiarism. The paper unveils plagiarism as a plague in Nigerian universities and the factors responsible for plagiarism. The paper contends that the universities are the starting point for all professions and as plagiarism remains a serious issue in the universities, same is affecting the professional world. Journalism in this digital era is filled with publications and production without sources because of negligence of plagiarism in universities. The paper further proffers solutions on how students and academicians who are carrying out research can in the same vein give credit to whom credit is due.
