Abstract: Use of Twitter for dissemination of real time is turning into a common practice in the aorld of journalism. The medium also offers a forum for the common man to make his views heard. This study is a social semiotic analysis of Top Tweets under two hashtags #Nirbhaya and # Delhigangrape. All the hashtags are related to the Rape Case that occurred in December of 20123 at New Delhi, the capital of India.
