Social Network Sites as Future News Platform? An exploration of the importance of news in online based networks

Abstract:
In view of the growing importance of online-based Social Network Sites (SNS) the paper explores the importance of news diffusion and reception within these offers. Furthermore, the question will be discussed if the stream on information we find in individual networks can fulfill rather surveillance and/or social gratifications. To examine this, a combination of various methodological approaches was used.
