Abstract: The study adopts both quantitative and qualitative analysis and selects thirty literature review parts from an International linguistic journal---The Modern Language Journal, which ranks sixth in the linguistic discipline, with high impact factors, covering a wide range of research in this discipline. These research articles are published in five years of the study. Biber’s (1999) classification of lexico-grammatical features of stance is used to classify stance into three subcategories. The study finally finds that style of speaking stance markers are used for the most, with the frequency of 449, which is far more than epistemic stance (N=121) and attitudinal stance markers (N=109). These features show the features of the use of stance in literature review parts. After the quantitative analysis, this study attempts to explain it from the features of academic papers.
