Abstract: Metaphorical thinking is part of the cognitive processes through which the human mind conceptualizes the world. It is believed by cognitive linguists that metaphor is part of the ordinary language and ubiquitous in our everyday language. Metaphor is universal, but there are variations due to cultural differences. Therefore, it has always been a focus of study for linguists to study different cultures. This research will focus on analyzing a Chinese polysemous word "Chi" from the perspective of the CONTAINER metaphor through which the unique Chinese thinking patterns will be revealed.
Keywords: "Chi", CONTAINER metaphor, polysemy
