Analysis of The UAE Mainstream Media’s Attitude towards “Belt and Road” Initiative: A study of news headlines concerning the “Belt and Road” Initiative in Gulf News

Abstract: China puts forward the “Belt and Road” Initiative in 2013.The UAE responds to and participates in China’s “Belt and Road” Initiative. It gets a lot of benefits from the initiative. The media in the UAE pays more and more attention to the initiative. Based on the transitivity clauses within Systemic Functional Linguistics, this article studies the reports about the “Belt and Road” Initiative in the UAE mainstream media Gulf News. Through analyzing the transitivity structures in news headlines, this article intends to explore the attitudes revealed in the related reports and the reasons behind.
