Abstract: with the rapid development and great process of modern science and technology, video games are gradually becoming a part of peoples daily life. China, as one of the largest consumers of video games, possesses a vital position in the world's market. It is an interesting phenomenon that mainland and Taiwan have different translations about the same foreign video games. Aiming at the difference, this paper uses Susan Bassnett's cultural translation theory to explain the reasons, and finally finds that the real reason is not the external translation but the inner cultural differences such as different cultural backgrounds, different comprehension of traditional and foreign culture, aswellasdifferent systemofpoliticsandeconomy
